Carpet shopping and carpet selection should be about varity, not just about displaying carpet that is in fashion at any current time. If you walk into the majority of flooring retail showrooms around the counrty you will be offered a very muted colour range currently and also there is a finite selection of carpet contructions.

Flooring retailers have a number of resason for having a reduced carpet range and alot of these are not know to the general public, one of the most commom reason for displaying only current colour trends is due to the limited amount of retail space they have in their flooring showrooms, even though they have access to all of our products they just don’t have the space to display every carpet, carpet tile and vinyl design that we have available to you in New Zealand. Wool carpet and nylon carpet have various features and benefits which would be better suited to some installation environments than others. Rather than fixate on what your carpet is made from, we suggest you use the chart on our website (see link  the bottom of this post) to help you prioritise which qualities you require from your new carpet.

If, like most New Zealanders, your home is infiltrated with sunlight and you are concerned about fading, select a premium-quality solution dyed carpet with a guarantee against UV fading. Make sure this is a UV fade warranty and not just a colour fast warranty, as colour fast generally does not cover you against UV fade on your flooring.

If you have allergy sufferers in your household, select a man-made-fibre carpet that is guaranteed not to shed or pill.

If you have children, pets, accident-prone or incontinent household members, select a 100% solution dyed carpet with a 100% solution dyed backing.

If you have underfloor heating, make sure this won’t create problems for the carpet or underlay – and that neither will affect the heating.

If you desire a highly-coloured patterned carpet, select a woven wool/nylon Axminster or printed nylon carpet. Our wool ranges are fantastic for custom colouring  carpets in any pattern or even plain cut pile carpets.

A  superb new look for a well established New Zealand fashion retailer. Glassons Riccarton, who employed the design services of Gascoigne Associates, have recently won the Personal Group Apparel Division of the latest RED Awards, the premier retail design awards of the New Zealand Retail Interior Association (NZRIA).

Glassons have selected a fantastic new custom designed and printed floral carpet from Irvine International Floors. The fitting room carpet has been directly stuck to the floor for a complete wall-to-wall carpet effect, and the balance of the carpet has been cut into large circular rugs with the edge finished with narrow tape.  The total flooring solution from carpet design, rug production and installation was organised by Irvine International Floors, so for your next flooring project make sure you contact us first, for an easy-to-purchase designer flooring  effect.
